Frontier "Secure Connections" installation
Reply Quote
Note: This is in answer to a question from our July 2008 meeting

Frontier "Secure Connections" is offered free to high speed residential internet customers who have at least 1 year commitment remaining.

Their offering is actually a commercial product, Computer Associates Internet Security 2007, which has been outdated by the new version 2008. This is about a $70 retail value.

This combined package is a 58 Mb download. Although one of the Frontier web pages indicates that one can download the separate CA applicatons, the only thing that one can do is click on the "all 5" button, which takes you to the Internet Security Suite download.

However, I believe that once you download and start to install the suite, you will have the option to install only parts of the suite.

The components of the suite are
Anti Virus
Anti Spy ware
Fire Wall
Anti Spam
Anti Phishing
and Parental Contols.

This is the same mix of functions as found in Symantec Norton Internet Security.

Here is the link to the start of the download process:

http://www.frontierhelp.com/caf.cfm

The process goes like this:

(Note: you may want to shut down your existing anti virus program before proceeding further. )

1. obtain a CA software license key by following the instructions on the Frontier website
2. Answer 2 questions
3. Start the down load of the 58 Mb file
4. Run the installation program that was downloaded
5. Follow the on screen instructions until the instaltion is complete.

Good luck and have fun!!
