Several follow up items here ---
1. Sound in slide shows -- it does work as demonstrated. My problem today was that somebody had turned off all sound on that PC. It works better in Office versions 2003 and later. Instead of shrinking the sound icon that appears in the slide as I suggested, you can just drag it off the slide area. If you want to have the sound start at the first slide and continue to play from the beginning, be aware that there is a delay...so I suggest that you start the show with a blank slide to start the music and then move on to the title slide. To have the music continue to play as you advance the slides, you have to do something special. In version 2003 do this:
Right click on the sound object that was created in the slide. Select Custom Automation then click on the down arrow opposite the music file and select Effects Options from the list that appears...then set the Stop Playing option to after n slides (set n= number higher than total of slides in presentation) Then click OK
2. Preview a slide's text or transition automation--in version 2003, click on Slide Show then Custom Automation and then click on the Play button at the bottom of the task pane.
